13 Myanmar companies from beans, pulses, oilseeds, honey, and coffee sectors are now well on their way to achieving their export potential by developing a better understanding of the ASEAN markets and value chains in the region.

Earlier in May, these companies were in Manila to attend the IFEX Philippines 2024, which is one of the major meetings of the food industry in the ASEAN countries.

This year’s edition covered sustainability, with organic foods in focus.

The Myanmar companies participated in the Fair with support from European Union funded ARISE Plus Myanmar project.

This was also an opportunity to foster regional promotion of Myanmar BPO, edible nuts, snacks, honey, and coffee companies in one of the largest exhibitions dedicated to food in the world.

B2B meetings with ASEAN and European clients enabled Myanmar companies to present product samples and promote their products.

Participants also benefitted by attending the seminar on exporting food products to the EU from the Philippines that was organized by the EU funded ARISE Plus Philippines project.

An exposure visit to a specialized package processing unit, honey processing factory, and coffee processing factory was also organized, which helped improve the participants’ understanding of the snacks and edible nuts sector in the Philippines, one of ASEANs largest markets.

Participation in trade fairs goes a long way as it enables companies to do business, evaluate common challenges, and set the trends on international markets.
