Read why one Uruguayan entrepreneur decided to start a company that helps teachers harness the power of technology to help their students.

Nicolás Pereyra Martinez is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Uruguay-based EDU Editorial, a company that develops ‘Intelligent Books’ in Latin America, which make it easier for teachers to include technology in the classroom.

Why did you become an entrepreneur?

Everything started with a strong need to feel passionate about my work. I chose to go for something that would challenge me and that could be appreciated by many people. I wanted to work with committed, inspiring people. I was honest with myself and decided to take the risks of becoming an entrepreneur.

How has it changed your life and the lives of people around you?

Since I became an entrepreneur, I have felt more alive and I enjoy my work more. I feel inspired more often. I got to know myself better. My household economy became more dynamic. The people around me also feel more entrepreneurial now. I think that they feel empowered to influence their own destinies.
