Driving diversification through SMEs: WEDF 2015 opening

Diversification of products through small and medium-sized enterprises – that’s the key to elevating the economy of Qatar and the wider Arab region.

That’s according to Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, who opened the 2015 World Export Development Forum in Doha on 20 October alongside Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), Arancha González.

This marks the first time the forum – organized by ITC and the Qatar Development Bank – was hosted in the Middle East. It’s also the first conference targeting trade development as a cornerstone to achieving the United Nations’ Global Goals.
