Uganda, Jamaica, Mexico, and Austria win the 2012 TPO Network Awards

The Uganda Export Promotion Board, Jamaica Promotions Corporations, ProMéxico and Advantage Austria come top at the 2012 TPO Network Awards


 
The Uganda Export Promotion Board, Jamaica Promotions Corporations, ProMéxico and Advantage Austria were today announced as the four winners of the 2012 TPO Network Awards for having shown excellence in trade export development. The announcement was made during a ceremony at an awards dinner during t the 9th TPO Network World Conference & Awards in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, organized by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in cooperation with the Malaysia External Trade Development Organization (MATRADE).
 
The winners of the 2012 Awards have been recognized for having demonstrated outstanding performance in the use of innovative and efficient systems and procedures in their export development initiatives. The 2012 TPO Network Awards were given in four categories: Least Developed Country, Small Island Developing States, Developing Country, and Developed Country.

ITC’s Director of Business and Institutional Development, Ms. Aïcha Pouye said: “The winners of the 2012 TPO Network Awards have been chosen because of the hard work they have laid down and the results they have achieved in their efforts to serve their exporters in the best possible way. They are innovative, forward-looking, and have set examples for others to follow.

To allow for more good practices to be shared among the TPO Network, the adjudicating panel has this year also recognized second and third place winners in each - category, as well as a panel’s special mention award. The panel is comprised of four distinguished TPO practitioners, including a senior representative of each of the 2010 TPO Network Awards winners and chaired by ITC Executive Director Ms. Patricia Francis.
The Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB) received its award of excellence in the Least Developed Country category. Runners-up were the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and the Benin Agency for Trade Promotion (AbePEC).

In the category for Small Island Developing States, the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) came out on top, followed by the Dominican Republic Export and Investment Centre (CEI-RD).

ProMéxico was found to have excelled in the Developing Country category. Runners-up in this category were the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) and Dubai Exports.
In the Developed Country category Advantage Austria was given the highest accolade, followed by Enterprise Lithuania and UBIFRANCE.
 
The panel’s Special Mention Award was granted to Swiss Trade and Invest (OSEC).
