Two ITC workshops in Peru put focus on how to research and analyse export markets.

Researching and analysing export markets were the topics of two recent ITC-led workshops in Peru, targeted at professionals working on trade support.

The first workshop, which took place in Tarapoto on 30 May-1 June, looked how to gather and analyse trade information with the aim of establishing a solid understanding of the target market in order to put forward a value proposition.

The workshop was also visited by Ms Candy Morales Marusella, Export Manager of La Orquidea and a local, successful exporter of chocolate. She shared her company’s experience in analysing export markets and gave advice on how to become ‘export-ready’, how to differ your approach to different retail situations and the need for professionalism in establishing and maintaining relationships with importers.

Promoting products

The second workshop, held in Chiclayo on 4-6 June, aimed at giving the participants a solid understanding of how to best promote products and understand their prospects. They also continued their analysis on how to understand a particular product market.

The workshops in Chiclayo and Tarapoto were both part of the training programme ‘Researching and Analysing Export Markets’ and arranged in collaboration with Peru’s Ministry of Trade and Tourism, PromPero, Tehcnoserve and Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
