Support sought for tourism sector and related supply chain linkages

The Lao People’s Democratic Republic’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Khemmani Pholsena, has expressed hope for stronger co-operation with the International Trade Centre (ITC).

In her meeting with ITC’s Executive Director Arancha González on 11 June 2014 in Geneva, Ms Pholsena said she welcome continued support for her country’s tourism sector, particularly in linking handicraft producers and farmers to the tourism-related supply chain. The Executive Director said ITC is pleased to offer technical assistance in institutional capacity-building, and to promote the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises through their involvement in value chains.

She extended an invitation to Laos to participate in the forthcoming Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Network World Conference and Awards in Dubai from 3 to 5 November to develop networking opportunities with other TPOs around the world.
