Madagascar signe un Protocole d'accord avec l'ITC pour améliorer la compétitivité de ses PME (anglais)

The Prime Minister of Madagascar, Christophe Roger Kolo, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), Arancha González, on technical assistance to the country to promote enterprise development which will enhance the competitiveness of Madagascar’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and improve overall competitiveness of its economy. They inked the agreement at the ITC headquarters in Geneva on 19 May 2014.

The Prime Minister said he is keen to see an improvement in the business climate through measures to reduce the cost of trading and by improving the trade infrastructure. He said an increase in the trade capacity of Madagascar can be achieved through the support of the private sector, particularly the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Mr Kolo said enhanced technology will improve production capacity and quality assurance to access international markets.

The Executive Director said ITC has expertise in enterprise competitiveness and the organization works to improve SME development in Africa, in countries such as Burundi, Ethiopia and Liberia by providing technical assistance in agriculture, production, as well as in providing trade intelligence. She said ITC can offer its services to Madagascar to help the country to increase its position in regional and global value chains.
