Iraq recently launched its first e-learning platform, SAAVI (saavitadreeb.org), aimed at enabling emerging agripreneurs to start and develop their businesses.

The platform combines entrepreneurship and agribusiness-related technical skills in ten training modules, providing young Iraqis with the necessary knowledge and skills to embark on their agricultural business journey along the value chain.

The e-learning platform was launched by the International Trade Centre as part of the European Union-funded project "Strengthening the Agriculture and Agri-food Value Chain and Improving Trade Policy (SAAVI)".

The platform is part of a comprehensive training program that includes mentoring, coaching sessions, access to business development training, and finance for the most innovative and attractive agriculture and agri-food projects.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to increase their business exposure through links with private sector partners.

The training modules include assessments, educational videos, slideshows, and real-life experiences shared by successful Iraqi agripreneurs.

The ready-made materials on the online platform can be accessed from anywhere, and in the event of connectivity issues, dedicated training centers in 10 Key Support Organizations located in Baghdad, Basra, and Ninawa governorates are available with the support of 50 master trainers.

These institutions have been equipped with state-of-the-art e-learning tools and methods and will deliver e-learning content in a blended manner in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Center (NRC).

With this comprehensive support system, SAAVI plans to train more than 4,000 youth across the country, equipping them with the technical skills necessary to establish competitive business models in the agricultural and agri-food value chains.
