Online SCM hub connects learners to information on the ITC programme and its global network of training partners

The International Trade Centre (ITC) has updated its Supply Chain Management (SCM) Programme with a hub website that connects participants to information about consolidated training modules and strengthens links with the programme’s global network of training institutions.

The new site will be useful for training candidates from micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries who do not live near a training partner. It also helps candidates to study under new constraints on classroom learning due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

  • The SCM hub – at supplychain.intracen.org – makes it easy to navigate all information on course modules and training institutions in one place. Users can find contact details for local training providers on a dynamic world map.
  • “Our network list, available on the website, will expand as we continue to roll out the new programme,” Julia Oyiolo, ITC Programme Manager, said. “The programme’s diverse partners include business training centres, consultancies, technical institutes, universities, colleges and trade support institutions.”

The update, part of the lead up to the 20th anniversary of the programme in 2021 under the banner SCM@20, follows the release of a new curriculum for the ITC Diploma in Supply Chain Management.

SCM Campus virtual learning space

A new platform – the SCM Campus – with access to diploma-level and certificate-level training in e-learning formats on a virtual learning space (VLS) platform is planned for the hub.

The online component complements face-to-face training and promotes continuous learning. The platform moves away from time-bound courses – with defined start and end dates – to facilitating social learning among participants.

The VLS platform will provide global accessibility to training and certification in supply chain management. ITC’s professional training and certification provide practical knowledge and skills development through a flexible programme that allows for progress according to individual objectives, knowledge level and schedule.

More about the ITC programme

Over the past two decades, the ITC Supply Chain Management Programme has enabled partners worldwide to offer local training for supply chain skills development. More than 60 licensed partners deliver the programme’s internationally recognized Diploma in Supply Chain Management and certificate-level courses in more than 50 countries.

Since 2003, partner-facilitated training has benefited more than 45,000 people, including more than 14,000 women. Empowered by ITC, participants have improved their supply chain management competencies and reduced costs by a total of $50 million.

Partnerships are at the core of ITC’s approach to improving supply chain management. The programme engages institutions to offer training locally, equip partners with teaching approaches and materials, and empower participants to develop solutions to organizational challenges.

Course modules are offered by qualified partners, mostly from the private sector, under fee-based licensing arrangements. Once a local partner has obtained a license, they become a registered member of a global network.

ITC provides web-based support and administration, course module books and trainer materials. The programme also delivers train-the-trainer workshops and forms strategic partnerships with other teams at ITC, international organizations and funders to provide trade-related technical assistance.

The programme directly reports on UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education – to ensure people have relevant employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship skills.

The ITC Supply Chain Management Programme is ISO 9001:2015 certified and delivers leading training material that conforms to the highest standards.
