Understanding ISO 22301:2019
ISO has published the
requirements standard ISO 22301:2019 with guidance in the form of the
supporting standard ISO 22313:2020. These standards enable any organization to
implement and maintain a business continuity management system that increases
its level of preparedness to continue to operate during disruptions regardless
of their nature or cause. But what questions should an organisation be asking
and how do these standards provide the answers?

This unique ISO-ITC joint
workshop provides the questions that an organisation should be asking at each
stage of the process and, with clear references to the standards, provides the
answers. Join Workshop

ISO regional workshop on the use of conformity assessment activities and tools to achieve better regulatory outcomes
Regulators may require the use of conformity assessment either through direct reference to the relevant International Standard or Guide in the regulation or through developing a conformity assessment scheme or referencing an existing one.Choosing and implementing proportionate conformity assessment procedures for various economic operators, products and services, as well as balancing with them respective market surveillance activities, is a challenging and complex task, which requires a deep understanding of available conformity assessment procedures and international best practice in the field. That is why the knowledge and skills necessary to build conformity assessment procedures as they described in the ISO CASCO standards by both regulatory authorities and economic operators, including conformity assessment bodies, is essential for building and running risk-based regulatory frameworks that support international trade and sustainable development.

Virtual regional workshop on product certification based on ISO/IEC 17065 and ISO/IEC 17067
Many ISO’s developing country members provide conformity assessment services (such as certification, testing, inspection …etc.) on a commercial basis or they may be operated or mandated by the government. These services represent one of the major sources of funding and financial sustainability of such organizations. The conformity assessment activities themselves should follow the requirements contained in the appropriate international standards, developed by the ISO’s Committee on Conformity Assessment (CASCO), to ensure consistency worldwide and facilitate cross-border acceptance of results, making regional and international trade easier. The WTO TBT agreement asks the WTO members to use international standards or guides issued by international standardizing bodies as a basis for national procedures for conformity assessment. Hence, it is important that ISO provides technical support to these NSBs to implement effectively the ISO CASCO standards in their countries.
