Memorandum of Understanding aims to strengthen partnership between the Russian Federation and ITC, enabling the implementation of joint trade development programmes

ITC and the Russian Federation have entered a partnership to contribute to sustainable economic development through exports, increased job opportunities and an improved business environment. This partnership opens a new chapter in the relations between the Russian Federation and ITC. As one of the world’s largest economies, Russia is a strategic partner for ITC in achieving its goals of supporting trade-led development in ITC beneficiary countries.

The agreement was signed by Jean-Marie Paugam, Acting Executive Director of ITC, and Alexey Likhachev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, on 26 July.

ITC and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation will jointly target four main areas. The two parties will establish customized training courses on aspects related to the implementation of World Trade Organization agreements for the business community, policymakers, students and professors from higher education institutions; develop regional export strategies; provide trade information to entrepreneurs, policymakers and students; and work with trade support institutions to improve the export competitiveness of businesses.
